Spoiler Free Avengers 2: Age of Ultron Review and Parental Guide. Spoiled version at the bottom of the post but clearly labeled so you won't accidently see anything.

Overall: Really good! I want to watch it again to see what all I didn't pick up on the first time. But that stupid Pinocchio song is going to be stuck in my head for days.... (See the HISHE youtube video below my parental guide, it'll crack you up!)

There's plenty of action, humor, character development, and even some romance, but none of it was overdone. The romance and plot twists were surprising, I enjoyed them. There was lots of fun action but not so much that I got bored. They tempered everything with a bit of humor, which was actually understated and true to their characters.

So far, other than the first minute or so, which is horrible CGI in an extremely CGI heavy opening, I don't have much complaint. It might seem nitpicky, but first impressions are unforgettable, and my first impression was wondering who was going to get fired for the cruddy special effects. Thankfully, the rest of the movie's CGI was amazing!

For those who are classic Marvel fans but haven't seen the movie, this might help you enjoy it more. Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch aren't Magneto's kids in the movie. This ticked me off at first, after remembering that Fox still has the X-men rights and they can't even mention mutants, it's understandable why they write it that way.

It also really bothered me that they couldn't wait for the Ant Man movie to come out before they threw Ultron into the mix (since Ant Man created him), but they way they did it really isn't so bad. (More about that in the spoiler section.) But considering that we all wanted Avengers 2 to come out about 3 years ago, I guess it's not a bad compromise letting them get their way and getting our movie now.

Parental Guide
Violence: Not much worse than the first movie, but there is a part where a guy's arm is torn off. It's very brief, not bloody but still there. There is also a fight between Iron Man and Hulk where the Hulk gets hit repeatedly in the face and spits out a tooth, but it's very cartoonish. They get around the graphic violence by having the Avengers fight robots (for the most part), so you see the robots being torn apart and destroyed.

Language: About the same as the last Avengers, not bad, significantly less than Guardians of the Galaxy (which my kids won't be seeing anytime soon.)

Sexual Content: Brief innuendos.

For those who haven't seen it yet, here's a hilarious How It Should Have Ended of the movie trailer (spoiler free, of course)

Be Ye Warned: Spoilers Below!

It also really bothered me that they couldn't wait for the Ant Man movie to come out before they threw Ultron into the mix. It did, but considering that Iron Man helped create him originally, they did keep with part of it.

Can I just say? Vision!!! Oh my goodness LOVED how they did him!!! Perfect! And HULKBUSTER ARMOR!!!! WAHOOOO!!!

I was disappointed that Black Widow and Hawkeye don't get to be together, but Pinterest and I can't always get what we want. Having Widow with Hulk and Hawkeye having a secret family was cute once I got used to the idea.

Ultron, please stop with the song already! It was creepy the first few times...repeating it at the end just makes you annoying. I would have been more annoyed though if I hadn't been laughing so hard (because of that video above) and whispering, "My childhood is ruined!" to my hubby.

I love how the Avengers were actually defeated and had to pick themselves up.

Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver (except for his hair, what's up with the crappy dye job?) were incredibly well done. Although Wanda could have taken all of Ultron and his minions out by herself without batting an eyelash, I grudgingly have to admit that they had to downplay her powers because there have to be some limitations....and if she was pretty new to her powers...
